Project Structure
The AIDA project will be implemented over 30 months, and it is structured into seven activities.
Activity 1
Platform Requirements, Design and APIs

End: April 2021
Goal: One of the objectives of this activity is to define the requirements of the proposed platform. Both user and functional requirements will be collected to ensure that all the components developed along the project have a coherent strategy and meet the identified requirements.
Activity 2
Distributed Infrastructure: from Cloud to Edge

Goal: The main objective of this activity is the edgefication of the current risk monitoring platform that deals with the issues of distributing components to non-colocated computing platforms as micro services and the orchestration of those micro services.
Activity 3
Distributed/Federated Machine Learning

Lead: CMU and INESC TEC
Start: August 2020
End: June 2022
Goal: The goal of this activity is to develop Federated Learning (FL) methods, either by adapting existing machine learning algorithms or by developing new ones to work on a FL framework.
Activity 4
Security and Privacy
Security and Privacy
Lead: University of Coimbra
Start: August 2020
End: June 2022
Goal: The goal of this activity is to address all the security and privacy issues introduced by the edgefication of certain components, including intrusion detection and tolerance at the multiple levels of the architecture, secure communication channels, security and privacy at data management level and a management system that monitors the security status of the system.

Integration, Experimental Validation and Pilot

Goal: This activity aims to support the integration of the software components developed within the project according to the global platform architecture as defined by Activity 1.

Goal: This activity will define and enforce the communication, dissemination and exploitation of the project’s results.
