INESC TEC is now accepting grant applications to award 1 Research Grant (BI) within the scope of the project AIDA, cofunded by the ERDF – European Regional Development Fund, through the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation – COMPETE 2020 Programme and by National Funds through the FCT – Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. on the scope of the CMU Portugal Program. The work of this grant will be on the surveying the state of the art on machine learning model aggregation, application of state of the art techniques for model aggregation based on several methods, application and evaluation in a federated learning environment. Research fellowship (BI) in Machine Learning

A call is open for Research fellowship (BI) in Machine Learning within the context of the CMU Portugal Large-Scale Project AIDA- Adaptive, Intelligent and Distributed Assurance Platform. The work of this grant will be on the generalization of the federated machine learning framework to various types of algorithms (not exclusively neural architectures); dealing with horizontally- and vertically-partitioned data – Investigation of privacy-preserving techniques and explainable methods; energy optimization of distributed algorithms in multiple use cases. Publication of at least 3 scientific papers during the fellowship period – Submission of PhD Thesis.

A call is open for Research fellowship (BI) in Distributed Systems within the context of the CMU Portugal Large-Scale Project AIDA- Adaptive, Intelligent and Distributed Assurance Platform. The purpose of this grant is to explore, design and implement protocols that conciliate privacy and confidentiality guarantees to handle increasingly more input data sources, both from edge or cloud environments, with the extraction of valuable information from the data that can be trusted, an issue exacerbated considering multiple data owners or across administrative domains.

Research fellowship (BI) in Distributed Systems

A call is open for Research fellowship (BI) in Distributed Systems within the context of the CMU Portugal Large-Scale Project AIDA- Adaptive, Intelligent and Distributed Assurance Platform. The purpose of this grant is to explore, design and implement protocols to distribute the Mobileum (https://www.mobileum.com/) RAID software components to achieve greater levels of scalability, by leveraging the increasing edge computing capacity made available by the IoT and the imminent large-scale deployment of 5G cellular technology.
